Fragrant Harbour - Victoria Harbour Hong Kong
Trams - Ding Ding
Hong Kong is a city of light that pushes ones senses to the max.  The transition from sparkling reflective waters and mono-tone buildings with a backdrop of green mountains to one of dynamic ever changing lights of all types are a feast for ones eyes.  This is highlighted at 8pm every evening for 14 minutes during the nightly laser show that can be witnessed from all over the Victoria Harbour area. Every location offers a different perspective as lasers and lights fill the sky and when the clouds are present it bounces off and creates extra special effect.  Neon has been associated with the streets of Hong Kong and is still present even though today’s it more LED and digital.  The old signs hanging over the street are sadly fading as like everywhere else those who govern don’t understand the beauty of difference rather the ease and convenience of sameness.  Light fascinates me and I try to capture it in my own unique way that is unconventional and I’m always will to try to capture a vision I see in my minds eye.  I’ve gone to the extremes to show and capture the true essence of Hong Kong and this is an amazing city of light. The challenges of shooting light are vast and that’s what makes it dynamic.  With digital technology we get to try things we never would have dared in the old film days.  This can mean shooting anywhere from a single image up to 6 minutes in exposure to many images shot over hours or minutes to make a single image and everything in between.  The challenge is as always trying to catch the true spirit of Hong Kong that is continuous movement.  Photography is all about light and what better place where the light screams to be seen and captured.
